Much More Than A Wrestling Club

Steel Valley Wrestling Club was founded in August 2019 to provide quality training opportunities and to grow wrestling in Easton PA and Lehigh Valley through collaborative efforts from coaches, parents, and wrestlers. Club coaches are comprised of area high school coaches and youth coaches who share a collaborative and constructive approach to growing the sport of wrestling.

Teaching Skills AND Values

Steel Valley Renegades is committed to not only teaching your youth athletes the sport of wrestling with an emphasis on skill and technique, but also the values that accompany it, like accountability, resilience, teamwork, and discipline. Led by Lehigh Valley’s own Coach Whitey Chlebove we encourage a competitive but fun and energetic environment for our wrestlers. We offer wrestling instruction as well as Strength and Conditioning Classes for students of all ages, from kindergarten through high school, and for youth wrestlers of all levels of experience and skill.

New Building Restructuring in 2026

To account for the growth in our wrestling club, in January 2026 we closed our smaller, separate 708 East St. building and moved the classes held there (Fundamentals, Intermediate, All Girls and Tumbling) to our main building at 601 East St.

Rooms are now referred to as Advanced Room & Futures Room.

This move was ideal because:

  • It moved all of our classes and equipment under one roof, creating a more cohesive atmosphere with ALL of our wrestling ‘family’.
  • It moved all of our athletes closer to our Cross Fit Training sister company, Cross-Fit Threefold.
  • It removed any directions confusion, especially for our drop ins and special events like Camps Training, Friday Night Live and Sasso Saturdays.
  • and finally…it made everything easier for our parents (especially the ones with wrestlers in different levels)!

What We Offer:

FUNdamentals

Designed primarily for new wrestlers (typically K-6), but open to any athlete beginning their journey.

Class Structure :

Coaches :

Core Techniques

Sweep, High-C, Double, Sprawl, Snap-Down, Stand-Up, Basic Breakdown, Half.

Advancement Criteria

Ability to listen, stay engaged, and complete full practices. Proficiency in core techniques.

Placement Decisions

Coach Dan reviews athlete progress with the coaching staff to determine when a wrestler is ready to move up.

Mentorship Philosophy

Intermediate wrestlers are encouraged to participate as mentors during Fundamentals practices. This helps newer wrestlers feel comfortable while reinforcing skills through teaching. No wrestler should sit in the parent area waiting for the next class — if they’re in the room, they should be on the mat helping younger athletes.

Intermediate

This group includes wrestlers (K-8) who can stay focused and demonstrate mastery of all fundamental techniques.

Class Structure :

Coaches :

Core Techniques

Sweeps (Low/High Finishes), Hi-C, Double, Low Single, Duck Under, Slide-By, Inside/Outside Dumps, Whizzer, Sprawl, Snap-Down Go-Behind, Stand-Up, Switch, Sit-Out, Breakdowns, Half, Bar, Cross-Wrist Tilt, Mat Returns, Bar Defense.

Advancement Criteria

Consistency and toughness through challenging practices. Proficiency in core techniques. Earning a Top-3 finish at a major national event (Super32, Tulsa, Reno, Powerade, USA Nationals, or State Championships) will automatically qualify a wrestler for the Advanced Room. Exceptions are rare and based solely on maturity.

Placement Decisions

Coach Dan reviews athlete progress with the coaching staff to determine when a wrestler is ready to move up.

Advanced

Our Advanced room is designed for wrestlers striving to compete at the state & national level, obtain college scholarships & more. Athletes in this program consistently earn state titles, place at Tulsa Nationals, and participate in national dual events. Participants should be prepared to perform our Intermediate Proficiency Test on command, without additional instruction.
